Opera for all audiences. This is the goal of the Government of Amazonas, which through the Secretary of State for culture, back to offer audio description and translation service in pounds, in 17 Amazon Opera Festival (FAO), to bring people with disabilities this great cultural event.

In all, five operas will be presented with language for people with hearing and visual impairments, and four will be at the Teatro Amazonas: on April 20, “King Roger” starts the presentations; “A masked ball”, on May 1; “The adventures of the Cunning Fox”, on May 2; the acclaimed “Parsifal”, on May 19, and finally, “the bat”, on May 26, at the Cultural Center Largo de São Sebastião.

In addition to the audio description and translation in Brazilian sign language (Libras), the spaces where the operas will be presented provide access ramps, accessible toilets and places reserved for wheelchair users.

The audio description system, which was released on 13th Amazon Opera Festival, works through headphones, through which is made simultaneous description of what happens in the scene.

Already the translation by the Pounds will be done via projection on screen. This service has been deployed by the State Secretariat for culture in the Christmas concert of 2009. Since the 14th edition of the FAO these systems work together, causing all the artistic grandeur of the Opera reaches everyone.
