The festivities kick off in high style May 30 – opening day of the May 30-June 1 Alumni Weekend – with a grand birthday party (complete with cake, candles, of course) and a concert by acclaimed operatic tenor Michael Hendrick (89C), who in 2007 made his Metropolitan Opera debut.

Mark you calendars now!  Some of our most cherished traditions will take on added flair in the coming months as the Berry Alumni Association celebrates its 100th anniversary.

An alumni art show also is on tap, as well as a book signing by Dr. Ouida Dickey (50C, FFS) for One Hundred Years of Service: The Berry Alumni Assocation 1908-2008.

Classes lucky enough to have reunions during Alumni Weekend this year are 1948H, 1953C, 1953H, 1958C, 1958H, 1963C, 1963H and 1968C.

The centennial celebration will continue through Mountain Day, Oct. 4 – with reunions being planned for the classes of 1965A-1984A, 1973C, 1978C, 1983C, 1988C, 1993C, 1998C and 2003C – before concluding with a three-day Founder’s Day spectacular, Jan. 29-31, 2009, featuring concert pianist Roberto McCausland-Dieppa (81C).

Complementing these events will be other initiatives including an alumni history exhibit in Krannert Center, alumni service projects, celebrations at regional and chapter events, and the “Centennial Seat” fundraising project for the Steven J. Cage Athletic and Recreation Center.  Keep an eye on future editions of the Alumni Accent for the latest centennial news or go to www.berry.edu/alumni for more information.
