Becoming familiar with the ins and outs of ropes in tests of skill and fitness is a part of the Project Adventure ropes course at WinShape Center on the Berry College campus. Students hone their skills on a variety of devices, with perhaps the biggest test coming on a cable 30 feet above the ground. Above, ropes-course director Michael Hendrick holds a safety line for an adventurous fitness-buff traversing the high cable. In center photos, Dana Belloir, 11, of Fayetteville grimaces, top, during a test of skill involving ropes and tires close to the ground, then gets a hand with her safey line from Project Adventure instructor Carol Ditchfield, bottom, before heading for an exercise farther off the ground. At far right, Amy Farr, 12, of Stone Mountain leaps from a platform perched 20 feet high. The ropes course is one of several facilities offered at the camp, which is conducted in two-week sessions and is sponsored by the WinShape Center Foundation, Inc. Based at the mountain campus of the college, U.S. 27 north of Rome, the WinShape Center Foundation was established by Chick-fil-A and Berry Cellege in 1984, according to a school spokesman.
